Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor now friends again?

Posted: 01 Feb 2011 02:47 AM PST

Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor now friends again?: Well, it's a season of patch-ups in Bollywood and taking the cue are former lovers Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor.

There has been an uneasy chill between Shasha and Bebo ever since the two broke up during the days their film Jab We Met released. This chill was quite apparent whenever the duo was in close proximity of each other, be it at a party or an award function. They would avoid each other without fail.

But the scene at the 56th Filmfare Awards on Saturday night was different.

From what we hear, Kareena was walking by when she spotted Shahid and Shahrukh Khan having an animated conversation. Since she couldn't walk past SRK without exchanging pleasantries, Kareena did approach the duo. What followed was a friendly chat between Shahid and Kareena after what seems like ages.

Of course, it would be an overstatement to say that the two are friends again. But at least now they won't have to look through each other when face-to-face.

Box Office Report: ‘Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji’ VS ‘Dhobi Ghat’

Posted: 01 Feb 2011 02:21 AM PST

Box Office Report: 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji' VS 'Dhobi Ghat': After a dull start on Friday, Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji picked up on Saturday and Sunday, but movie couldn't do much dhamaal at the box office. This Madhur Bhandarkar film had an average first weekend of around Rs 14.50 crore approx.

Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji collected Rs 3.95 crore approx on Friday, Rs 4.85 crore approx on Saturday and Rs 5.75 crore approx on Sunday. Though it's decent till now, as per trade reports, a big jump and good second weekend is possible for the film because there are no major releases this week except Yeh Saali Zindagi.

Coming to Dhobi Ghat, the movie collected Rs 13 crore in its first week but saw a major drop on eighth day. The movie may have to struggle to touch the Rs 15 crore mark. This Aamir Khan production though not successful in India is well received at the overseas market. The film collected around $950,000 (Rs 4.25 crore) from all the overseas market that includes United Kingdom, North America, UAE and Australia.

Another film that is doing extremely well overseas is Yamla Pagla Deewana. The collection of the movie has nearly touched $2.5 million (Rs 11.25 crore) from all markets. The movie is reportedly doing superb business in Canada which can be compared to the hits like Singh is Kinng, 3 Idiots and Mel Karade Rabba (Punjabi).

'Yeh Saali Zindagi' Preview

Posted: 01 Feb 2011 02:16 AM PST

'Yeh Saali Zindagi' Preview: After quite a gap, director Sudhir Mishra returns with his latest film Yeh Saali Zindagi, starring Irrfan Khan, Chitrangada Singh, Arunoday Singh, Aditi Rao and Sushant Singh.

The film is a quirky love story in the guise of a thriller. It's an obtuse take on how far they both the heroes go to get the women they love and how sometimes one screw-up can set everything right!

Synopsis:

Some bullets kill you, some save your life; some women kill you, some save your life.

Arun (Irrfan Khan) has to save Priti (Chitrangda Singh) the woman he loves, but for that he first has to save the man Priti loves- Shyam, the future son-in-law of a powerful Minister.

Meanwhile, time is running out for Kuldeep (Arunoday Singh), the young gangster who is on his last job as his wife is threatening to walk out on him completely, and he begins to suspect she is leaving him to go into the arms of another man. The job has gone haywire for it is still unknown to Kuldeep that the Minister daughter's engagement with Shyam is off and now she doesn't care whether Shyam lives or dies and more importantly neither does the Minister who Kuldeep hoped would pay the ransom!

Priti finds herself inextricably caught in this mess and Arun has to save her life. But for that he has to risk everything, and put his own life at stake, he wonders why he should do it at all, if she still loves another. He's torn, but love knows no reason. Meanwhile, Shyam is trying to make deals in captivity, and his goodness only seems superficial and as Kuldeep tries desperately to save his situation, there are dons coming from Bangkok, who have their own plans.

The film rides a roller-coaster towards a shattering climax, where all the players have to fend for their lives and loves. Who gets the girl, and who gets the money, and who escapes by the skin of his teeth, is now anybody's guess. But hold on, there are still jokers in the pack, and aces up some sleeves.

Expect the unexpected!

Yeh Saali Zindagi is set to release on February 4.

Saat Khoon Maaf is a black comedy

Posted: 01 Feb 2011 02:11 AM PST

Saat Khoon Maaf is a black comedy: Actress Priyanka Chopra, who journeys through the life of a woman from her 20s through 65 years of age in her next release ''7 Khoon Maaf'', says the film is a kind of black comedy which Bollywood has not seen in a long time.

" This is not a drama or suspense thriller. There is humour and wickedness.. a black comedy not seen for a long time," Priyanka told reporters here last night. The Vishal Bhardwaj directed film is inspired by Ruskin Bond''s short story, ''Susanna''s Seven Husbands''.

Priyanka described her lead character Susanna as "difficult and complicated." "''7 Khoon..'' is Susanna''s journey to find love. Ageing on screen was the most difficult part. I modelled my older look on the physical appearance of my mother," the 28-year-old actress said.

Priyanka said the experience of working with Naseeruddin Shah, Irrfan Khan and Annu Kapoor, who play three of her seven husbands in the movie, was "nerve wrecking". "I had never worked with them before. Annu Kapoor is a friend of my father but I had not worked with him. I did a workshop with Naseeruddin Shah before the film went on floors. I had to learn a lot from Irrfan as an actor," she recalled. "We shot the first schedule with Irrfan where Susanna''s age is 37-40 years. I was so nervous and relied a lot on my director," she said.

The ''Dostana'' star said she was most compatible with John Abraham as she knew him well having done three films together. "I also shared good rapport with Neil Nitin Mukesh and Vivan during the shoot," she said. To a question on initimate scenes in the film, Priyanka said the film was based on marriage. "There can be no marriage without intimacy. Love and pain come with several other emotions. I have tried to enact them to the best of my comfort." . ...

Malaika Arora to teach Madhuri Dixit dance to ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’

Malaika Arora to teach Madhuri Dixit dance to 'Munni Badnaam Hui': The 'Munni' magic has rubbed on the undisputed dance diva Madhuri Dixit as well.

Not so long back, when Madhuri was asked to choose between the two hot item numbers - Munni Badnaam Hui or Sheila Ki Jawani - she praised both the numbers but chose Munni for its flat-out energy.

So while judging the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4 with Malaika Arora, Madhuri did get a chance to shake a leg to the steps of 'Munni'. Apparently, it was Malaika herself who took the lead and showed the 'Munni' steps to Madhuri.

What followed was the rare sight of two of the best dancers of Bollywood dancing to the beat of the most popular song of 2010.

The episode will be aired on Tuesday night. Don't miss it.

It's time for real 'King' Shahrukh Khan at 56 Idea Film Fare Awards

It's time for real 'King' Shahrukh Khan at 56 Idea Film Fare Awards: Shahrukh Khan has done it again for the eighth time as the superstar receives the 'Best actor' award at the event for his performance in the Karan Johar directed movie My Name is Khan. The same film earned his co-star Kajal the 'Best Actress' award and Karan the 'Best director' award.

Karan Johar received it after 12 years, since he last received for his debut movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The night was made interesting by SRK with his amazing performance with the 'dhak dhak' girl Madhuri Dixit in a baby pink lehanga choli. King Khan in a 'black pathani' dress not less gorgeous than the Bollywood dancing diva.

The young faces Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor paired again to offer some rib tickling moments as the hosts of the show. The duo offered some funny moments with their acts of Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan.

However, Salman Khan took away the 'best film' award with his corrupt cop story through Dabangg. Ranveer Singh and Anuskha Sharma hit the stage to pump up the heat with their Band Baaja Barat performance. Ranveer also bagged the 'Best Debut Actor (male)' award for his casual performance in BBB while Sonakshi Sinha won the female part for her village belle act in Dabangg.

On this occasion, megatsar Amitabh Bachchan was honoured for completing 40 years in Bollywood. This award was presented by Shah Rukh and Yash Chopra.

On the other hand, Madhuri Dixit Nene was honoured in the hands of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for completing 25 years in this industry.

Asin join the ‘Housefull 2’ team, Deepika Padukone Out

Asin join the 'Housefull 2' team, Deepika Padukone Out: Deepika Padukone's choc-a-bloc diary is posing problems for her. Producers can't wait if she doesn't have dates. So, instead of Deepika, Asin will be the new gal opposite Akshay Kumar in the sequel of Sajid Nadiadwala's production Housefull.
Earlier, Asin had skipped the chance to work with Akshay in Priyadarshan's comedy De Dana Dan. But this time, she is very much on board for Housefull 2 which is again going to be a comic caper. Sajid has confirmed her presence in the film.

As for Deepika, she might opt out of another Sajid Nadiadwala production Heer Ranjha which is pushed further because of her unavailability of dates. It's heard that the makers are searching for another actress to step into the breach, in case Deepika can't squeeze out dates for the film.

Right now, Deepika is working on Prakash Jha's film Aarakshan and also has the multi-starrer Desi Boys.
