Posted: 20 Jan 2011 06:33 AM PST

Prateik Babbar a Dhobi Ghat boy's love story: In Dhobi Ghat, Prateik plays a laundry boy who befriends a holidaying banker (Monica Dogra), goes out on a movie date with her, but ends up feeling jilted.

Getting into the skin of the character may not have been that difficult for Prateik, for his girlfriend Hanisha Melwani broke up with him after a three-year-long relationship.

Prateik's real love story goes like this: He met Hanisha more than three years ago. Their friendship turned into love and Prateik too was eyeing stardom after having made a noticeable debut in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. Things seemed hunky dory until Hanisha began ignoring him.

It was clear that something had given away and Hanisha no longer wanted Prateik in her life. But a possessive Prateik could not let go of her. He encountered her in a restaurant to sort things out, but the meeting took an ugly turn. A heated argument followed. The media was suddenly talking about Prateik on the rebound, chasing his (ex) girlfriend.

To get over the break up, Prateik then immersed himself in work. And slowly and slowly, he overcame his obsession for Hanisha. Today, Prateik says he's no longer running after Hanisha. Rather, he's single and enjoying it that way.

Amitabh Bachchan hosting more KBC next seasons

Amitabh Bachchan hosting more KBC next seasons: Little wonder then that he's been roped in by Sony Entertainment Television to host two more seasons of the show.

"Sony and I have signed on for KBC for the next two seasons... your blessings and encouragement needed in abundance!" Amitabh posted on his Twitter page.

It was Amitabh who first launched the show in 2000. He returned as its host for the second season in 2005 but was replaced by Shahrukh Khan in the show's third season, but the audience response wasn't as phenomenal as expected.

Last year, Big B returned as the host and revived the show and took its TRPs beyond those of other prime time shows, including Bigg Boss 4.

Sony Entertainment has confirmed that Big B has been signed to host two more seasons of the show. The fifth season will go on air this year only.

Oscar Awards 2011: Peepli [Live] out from the nominations

Posted: 20 Jan 2011 03:01 AM PST

Oscar Awards 2011: Peepli [Live] out from the nominations: The Aamir Khan-produced and Anusha Rizvi-directed film Peepli [Live] is out of the Oscar race in the days leading to the announcement of the nominations.

The film, a satirical comedy that thumbed its nose at the Fourth Estate while simultaneously dealing with the issue of the farmers' suicide in India, could not make it to the shortlist of nine films at the Academy.

Out of these nine, four more will be eliminated before the final five nominations are announced on January 25.

Since the last few years, India, despite being home to the world's largest film producing industry, has been facing disappointment at the Oscars. Aamir Khan has singularly been gunning for the coveted Golden Man without winning it yet.

His film Lagaan may have got the nomination in 2002, but lost out to the Bosnian film No Man's Land. Since then, films like Rang De Basanti, Taare Zameen Par couldn't even win the nomination.

Even the so-called Indian arthouse cinema hasn't produced a film worth an Oscar so far.

However, it was A R Rahman and sound technician Resul Pookutty who made us proud by winning Oscars in 2009 for their work in Slumdog Millionaire.

Sunny Deol now become a north india's Rajinikanth!: After being the quintessential action hero of Bollywood, Sunny Deol dabbled in comedy with Yamla Pagla Deewana, and see the effect after the movie's success; people are comparing him with the superstar Rajinikanth.

Yamla Pagla Deewana, starring the three Deols, has had a super start at box office and is particularly phenomenal in north India. Sunny, basking in its glory, tells a tabloid, "I am being called the Rajnikant of the North." But the actor is very keen to do more of action films and is not worried about the debacle of his last few action films like Right Yaa Wrong and Fox.

"I had veered away from doing what I was best at. But I have realised that doing movies like Ghayal is what I am best suited for."

Now Sunny is thinking of starting afresh after YPD's success. If the movie's sequel is in the pipeline, he is also working in a T-Series romcom with Kangana Ranaut and will also start working on Chandraprakash Dwivedi's 80 Ghat.

An actor's career is defined by a hit!
