Deepika Padukone feels more comfortable with Saif Ali Khan!

Posted: 28 Jan 2011 05:41 AM PST

Deepika Padukone feels more comfortable with Saif Ali Khan!: Deepika Padukone became very nervous on the sets of Aarakshan, but guess whose presence made her comfortable - that of her Love Aaj Kal co-star Saif Ali Khan.
The actress is in Bhopal to shoot for Prakash Jha's next film Aarakshan. As Prakash likes to keep things very real, the shoot was in a college campus. Though the Om Shanti Om girl is a very confident actress, she started feeling uneasy after seeing a huge crowd gathered there to watch the shooting.

Deepika has never shot in Bhopal before and this is also her first time with a director like Prakash Jha. Things smoothened for Deepika only when Saif joined her for the latter half of the day for the shoot. "Deepika was much more comfortable when Saif came on set. He made her feel relaxed and put her at ease," a source is quoted as saying.

Slowly and slowly the actress adjusted to the shoot in an alien place; later she also conversed with the college students.

Wah Saif boliye!

Salman Khan cute tweets for Katrina Kaif!

Salman Khan cute tweets for Katrina Kaif!: The recent I-T raid at the house of the actress Katrina Kaif hasn't gone down well with her ex beau Salman Khan.

Salman, who isn't pleased with the Income Tax raid, thrashed the raids by tweeting, "right to raid...then we the right to question....then we have RTI .... Bataooo oh ho ho oh". By writing this, he meant, if the officials have right to raid than we have right to question and also Right to information (RTI).

The actor who is back on twitter after a hiatus had to say a lot about the raids, but as Salman is not that expressive; words definitely fall short for him. He then tweeted to urge others to react about it, "Aur ek insaan batao jo mere baat se dis agree karega ...chekho chillao, kuch karo…" Next tweet, " Darr gaye kya? Or am I wrong? Must b thn! Vil jst keep it acting n movie's. y own frnd don't want me to tweet. So good nite…"

We can understand the actor's frustration; it was a matter related to Katrina who is still a very good friend of Salman.

Priyanka Chopra forget her dialogues during shooting but why?

Posted: 28 Jan 2011 05:29 AM PST

Priyanka Chopra forget her dialogues during shooting but why?: Priyanka Chopra was awe-struck by this man and he made her forget even her dialogues. His presence spellbinds the actress.

Who is he? His name doesn't starts with 'S' guys! While shooting for 7 Khoon Maaf, Priyanka got the chance to work with the extremely talented Naseeruddin Shah whom she finds a tremendous actor. Naseer plays one of the husbands of Priyanka in the film and together they are shown doing some naughty scenes too.

Before starting work with him, Priyanka also had to do a workshop with the actor. "When I did the workshop, it kind of eased me out with Naseer sir but it's very difficult to work with him because when he is doing a scene, he is so good that you just keep looking at him, and I used to forget that even I have to say a dialogue," admits PC without any hesitation.

This was a learning experience for the actress who has come a long way in the industry and with 7 Khoon Maaf once again she will prove her acting prowess.

Akshay Kumar on film signing spree, says analyst

Posted: 28 Jan 2011 03:27 AM PST

Akshay Kumar on film signing spree, says analyst: Action. Comedy. Multi-starrers. Flops, flops and more flops. Akshay Kumar might be yearning to roll out a decent hit since "Singh Is Kinng", but experts say it is not the end of the road for the Bollywood star.

"Akshay Kumar is a star and will remain a star irrespective of the fate of his films. He has a line-up of movies. Just last week he signed three more films - a remake of 'Seeta Aur Geeta', Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next and Tony D'Souza's next," trade analyst Vikas Mohan told us.

After "Singh Is Kinng" the filmography of actor-producer-star anchor Akshay has only flops listed on it. With the exception of "Housefull", almost all of his outings - "Jumbo" (voice over), "Chandni Chowk to China", "8 X 10 Tasveer", "Kambakkht Ishq", "Blue", "De Dana Dan", "Khatta Meetha", "Action Replayy" and "Tees Maar Khan"- have left the industry bleeding.

Sajjan Damani of Shree International, who distributed "Action Replayy" in the international market, said: "Akshay has never been out of the game. He is a star who has always been there. What has failed is his films and not he as an actor. The problem has been with the content of his films or the filmmaker. He will always be there among the top stars. He just needs one right film."

His first release of 2011 is Nikhil Advani's "Patiala House", releasing Feb 11. In the latter part of the year, Akshay has several movies lined up like "Thank You", "Desi Boyz", "Joker" and "Housefull 2″.

"Akshay Kumar is one of the most professional actors that our industry is blessed with. He has outdone himself in 'Patiala House' and the audiences will get to see a new level of Akshay. He is truly the 'Khiladi'," said "Patiala House" co-producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series.

The 43-year-old is, however, infamous for his exorbitant fees. He reportedly asked for Rs.24 crore as remuneration to play Dawood Ibrahim in Ekta Kapoor's sequel to her 2010 hit "Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai".

"The discussions are on and no movie has been fixed yet. It is to premature to talk on this thing now until any deal is locked. However, Akshay has the capacity and he is one of the biggest money spinning actors of the modern era. He is a force to reckon with," Girish Johar, head of acquisition and distribution of Ekta's Balaji Motion Pictures, told us.

Mohan said: "Akshay Kumar starrers are always big budget movies. If he asks and people pay, then how can one raise questions?"

Akshay on the other hand had said: "I'm not an unreasonable person who'll want losses for his associates. I'm ensuring that the production cost is under check."

"Everyone wants to work with Akshay Kumar. He is not down. It is the films that are letting him down. He drives in good numbers and people still want to go for an Akshay Kumar movie," said an analyst.

Katrina Kaif press meet - she believe in happy endings

Posted: 28 Jan 2011 03:21 AM PST

Katrina Kaif press meet - she believe in happy endings: In one of her most candid outburst at Pritish Nandy's book launch Katrina Kaif admitted that she still believes in love.

It couldn't have been a more apt occasion for the beautiful Katrina Kaif, to tell the world that love still makes her world go round. She is happy, irrespective of the space and the time she is in.

No IT raids at her residence or speculations about her love life could stop the actress from being happy these days." The other side of love is disillusionment and disappointment. I do not believe this side of love. I choose to be optimistic in love. I believe in happy endings," revealed Katrina sharing her innermost thought with the media at .

Nandy's book launch held at Crossword yesterday. She also read out passages from the poetry along with Anupam Kher, Chetan Bhagat, Gulzar and Nandy on the dais.

Looking demure in a white dress, and smiling, Bollywood's no.1 actress appeared at ease with the media queries, sometimes being evasive... but mostly interesting in her replies. And before you wonder about her presence at such a do and suspect her credibility as a poetry aficionado, Kat frankly admitted of not being an avid reader. But her frank answers on love and life invited a roomful of attention and applause and at the same time displayed a rarely seen depth.

"I haven't been an avid reader in the last few years, but when Mr. Nandy met me recently, his subject on love interested me hugely. We got into chatting about poetry. I understand the power of poetry. It's so beautiful and expressive," she said. But added with smile that nobody was inspired enough to write love poems on her till now. "I want Gulzar saab to write couplets of love on me,"stated publicly. Obviously an ace poet like Glazer saw the potential of his next poetry and promised to deliver it instantly.

Katrina also promised a book of love poems to all the eligible bachelors in Bollywood "There isn't a single person, but I would like to give a book of love poems to all the unmarried men in Bollywood," she said with a smile.

Clearly, love was in the air. A smitten Chetan Bhagat couldn't take off his eyes from Katrina while Nandy celebrated love in all its hues and shades and finally concluded with an unflinchingly personal thought "One can fall in love even after marriage and that's got nothing to do whether you have a wonderful spouse".

Amrita Rao's next film with 'kinky' ideas

Posted: 28 Jan 2011 03:14 AM PST

Amrita Rao's next film with 'kinky' ideas: So, you thought the sweet Ms. Amrita Rao was an innocent, girl-next-door, huh? Well, what we're going to tell you now will make you rethink.

This gal has gone from sweet, to bold, to kinky. Yeah, believe it or not...she revealed it all. Recently, while talking to zoOm about her next film with the Barjatyas, she said that the film was kinky. Of course, our jaw dropped with shock, and we asked Amrita what was so kinky about the film? She quickly explained, "It's a sweet, cute story." Hmnnn...we can't say the same thing about your faux pas, gal.

We think the Barjatyas - known for their traditional family dramas - are already getting a panic attack on reading this. And her co-star, the sweet Tusshar Kapoor, must be wondering if was a better idea to go mute for a role, than romance the lovely Ms.Rao on-screen. Well, we know sex sells, but kinky...we're not so sure yet, gal. And we do like you looking cute, sexy and hmnn....don't worry, we aren't getting kinky ideas already. Lol!

Aamir Khan Interview: Ranbir Kapoor is a better actor than Imran Khan

Posted: 28 Jan 2011 02:54 AM PST

Aamir Khan Interview: Ranbir Kapoor is a better actor than Imran Khan: Well, he's unabashedly made politically incorrect statements in the past, and made headlines for it, but when it comes to calling a spade a spade – Aamir doesn't step back. And he doesn't spare his friends and family too.

Not even his favourite bhanja, Imran. Whether you like it or not, in the creative space, Aamir has no biases, and he surely cares a damn about being diplomatic. It was evident when zoOm caught up with the actor for an exclusive interview. When asked who is better actor – Ranbir on Imran, he promptly said, "I love Imran, but Ranbir is a better actor."

Ouch, did that hurt too much, Imran? C'mon, you can't sulk for too long with Mamu now. And remember...he'd also said that you're a lambi race ka ghoda. That's not too bad for a compliment, right?

Shahrukh Khan to play as professor in Karan's 'Student Of The Year'

Posted: 27 Jan 2011 02:03 PM PST

Shahrukh Khan to play as professor in Karan's 'Student Of The Year': How could it be that Karan Johar directs a film and not chalk out a meaty role for his best buddy Shahrukh Khan?

So recently when Johar unveiled the first look of his next film Student Of The Year - that will introduce new faces Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Siddharth Malhotra - eyebrows were raised because SRK was conspicuously missing from the credits.

Well, now we hear that SRK will indeed act in the film, apart from co-producing it with Johar. The actor will play a college professor whom the students adore.

Fans of the superstar might say they have already seen SRK playing similar roles in films like Mohabattein and Main Hoon Na.

But trust Karan Johar to make the character different. We hear he is taking a break from the hustle-bustle of Bollywood to work on the script and flesh out SRK's character. We hope it won't be just a cameo.

Afterall Madhuri Dixit was heard telling everyone after a special screening of 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji', that she loved Emraan's performance the most. "Madhur Bhandarkar's romantic comedy which releases this Friday stars Omi Vaidya, Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi in the lead roles.

Shahid Kapoor Interview: My beginning was very humble!

Posted: 27 Jan 2011 01:44 PM PST

Shahid Kapoor Interview: My beginning was very humble!: Shahid Kapoor, who turns 30 a month later, says that he's done movies in the past because his girlfriend was in it, but not anymore

You turn 30 next month. How different are you from the time you entered Bollywood seven years ago?
Thank you for reminding me (smiles), but it hasn't really sunk in yet. I really believe that the best years of my life are starting now. I've worked enough now to feel at ease with what I am and who I am. Also, God has been very kind. I've done some very good work, and whether or not my films do well, I always get offered good work.

The work comes because of luck or hard work?
I feel very proud of the fact that I have pretty much done all of it on my own. When I look back, I feel fortunate to be where I am. In this profession, it's not easy to make it on your own as it's very unpredictable, and has its ups and downs. It becomes easier when you are from the industry, but my father, even though an actor, was very much away from it. So, I wasn't exposed to people. My beginning was very humble.

You had no advantage then and struggled like any other person would?
Oh yes. I believe I've made a lot of mistakes. I have done some things right but I have committed a lot of mistakes. But even after making those mistakes, to be where I am, I am fortunate. So, am really happy doing what I am doing and I have survived 7 years, and am hoping to survive another 17, probably 20 years, and do work that I am proud of. In fact, it's in the recent past that I've done work that I'm really proud of, actually in the last 3-4 years, that I am doing work that I like, love, enjoy, and am proud of. Till then, I was finding my own identity. It's a very interesting phase, the best years from a work point of view are yet to come and the best years from a personal point of view are yet to come, and I think I am my own person now and I am comfortable with who I am. I think it's only when you are comfortable with who you are that you can have stability in your personal space or in any relationship.

Yes, we've noticed that you are now quite comfortable being spotted with a certain someone who you are being seen with. You also said that in a recent interview, right?
The question that was posed was that the media is linking you with people and you're not responding, and my answer was that I would never be governed by what the media says about my personal life because it would be a very restricted and scary place to be in. I will live my life the way that I do and I've learnt that it's a part of the profession and that things will be written about you and people would want to speculate. And I am not going to get scared or get worried about that and not live my life. I think that I am answerable to the people that I am answerable to and not to the media as such regarding my personal life. I think professionally, there's a huge amount of interaction happening with people...

Yes, you are less uptight now.
Yes, everyone tells me that. You know, I was very scared and very shy and people thought I was uptight, maybe it came across like that and I am very sorry if it did. Abhi toh I know everybody in the media, so I have a personal equation with people, and I have reached that point of comfort where I can open up and say what I feel and not feel any pressure. There used to be a point at which I used to feel a lot of pressure maybe because I was very new and I was still finding my ground, professionally. And it was very upsetting to constantly answer about your personal life. Then one day I just decided that I am not going to answer, write what you want. Life became a lot simpler after that and I think it became simpler for everybody, even for the media and for me.

What mistakes were you referring to earlier?
Lots of mistakes ya... I had no experience, so I used to do films for different reasons. At times I would do a film because I was excited about working with a certain director, sometimes I would be insecure about sitting at home, sometimes because my girlfriend (We assume he means Kareena!) was in it, different reasons, sometimes even because people used to tell me to.

You did movies because your girlfriend was in it?
Ya, and I am very honest about it. Sometimes I did a movie because everyone told me that you must do this film and you cannot say no to these people and then over time I realised that you know success is really periodic. It'll keep changing. What matters is satisfaction. And what's most important is to find success where you are happy and not run after it. So, I stopped. Three or four years ago I stopped running... of course, it's most important in this profession to be successful. But the idea should not be to run after that. Do work that you believe in and that makes you happy. That's what I am doing right now – trying to work with likeminded people, trying to work with people who I think I can talk to about films , who I think think similarly.

No emotional decisions anymore?
I wouldn't say those were emotional decisions, I just think there was lack of experience, so I was trying everything. Acha yaar aisa bhi try kar lete hain... waisa bhi try kar lete hain... Then, it's only over a period of time that you discover yourself as an actor and the person, which I think I have in the last few years. So, I feel comfortable now taking decisions.

You struggled because you were Pankaj Kapoor's son?
Maybe even worse because there were more expectations and I think when you are Pankaj Kapoor's son, everyone's like yaar isko acting toh aani chahiye. I had no advantage of getting a free launch or anything.

You came without a free launch, but were declared a superstar in the making. Unfortunately, you've always been a step or two behind that title...
That's ok, I don't live my life by titles. I feel terrible about the comparisons with everybody because I feel I am really undeserving of being compared to someone like a Shah Rukh Khan or Aamir Khan or any of these people who have had such achievements. There's a long way for me to go and I don't want that pressure on me, frankly. Like I said, it's not easy when you don't have anyone backing you.

Even without the backing, have you achieved everything you wanted to by the time you are 30?
I have a lot more than what I had expected. But there's too much more that I need to do and I am ready to work day and night for it. I remember, Will Smith said this one very beautiful sentence, which for me has become my mantra. I was watching his interview sometime after "Hancock", when he was being touted as the biggest star in Hollywood and that's very surprising with actors like Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt around and he said, "You can be better looking than me, you can have a better body that me, you can be a better actor than me but when you run with me on the treadmill, I will outrun you." That was very beautiful, he said that I work harder than anyone else and that's what makes me what I am. That's my mantra – I'm ready to work harder than anyone.

Priyanka Chopra Interview - The toughest Playing was 40

Posted: 27 Jan 2011 01:34 PM PST

Priyanka Chopra Interview - The toughest Playing was 40: From a 21-year-old to a 65-year-old, Priyanka Chopra portrays almost every crucial stage in a woman's life in her new thriller "7 Saat Khoon Maaf". But she says stepping into the shoes of a 40-plus character was the toughest as she couldn't connect to the age group.

"The 20s was my age, so it was fine and not so difficult; 30s was something I could expect and somehow imagined. The 50s and 60s were still easier to do because you become a lot more older so your body language is like that.

"But the 40s was the middle period, so it was very difficult. You are not very old but you are not very young either. So to get that correctly was a task," Priyanka, 28, told us.

The film, which will be showcased at Berlinale, is the big screen adaptation of Ruskin Bond's short story "Susannah's Seven Husbands".

When Vishal Bharadwaj, who had earlier adapted "Blue Umbrella" by the grand old "sahib" from Landour in Mussourie, decided to make a movie on it, the author expanded the few-page short tale into an 80-page novella and then into a 200-page full-length Hindi movie script.

"It's a very entertaining and wicked movie. It's amusing and not serious. It's a satire which makes it very interesting," said the mainstream actress who proved her versatility as a highly ambitious model in issue-based movie "Fashion" and won the National Award for her performance. She was a delight to watch in "Kaminey".

"7 Saat Khoon Maaf" is slated for a Feb 18 release. This is Priyanka's second film with Bharadwaj after the 2009 release "Kaminey" and the actress has no qualms in saying that the director knows how to exploit her potential.

"Vishal has always brought out the best in me and this time too he has given me one of the most challenging parts an actor can get. I'm really grateful that he thought I was capable enough to do it and pull it off," she said.

"There is a lot of responsibility on you when you work with a director like him. He is the kind of person who gives you the scene and says 'okay, do it now'. No instructions. After I give my first take, he tweeks it a little bit. So the responsibility as an actor is completely on you, which is very scary," she added.

The film's promos hit the screens some time back and have created enough curiosity thanks to Priyanka's sinister look and menacing tone.

The actress says the role demanded a lot from her.

"It was emotionally and physically very draining and I used to take out all my tantrums on Vishal. We used to fight like anything. He used to yell at me and I used to yell back. But then we used to make up," she said.

The former Miss World jumped on to the Bollywood bandwagon in 2003 with "The Hero: Love Story Of A Spy". In eight years, she has done commercial as well as author-backed sensitive roles too.

She is happy that people offer her powerful roles.

"The films that come to me are like that. Nobody offers me films where I don't have a good role. All my films have very power-packed parts for me. I'm grateful that people say that I'm the only one who can do those roles. It's never been a conscious effort, but obviously if I'm doing a film, I would want a good role in it," specified Priyanka.

The actress will be seen in a different avatar in Anurag Basu's "Barfee", which also stars Ranbir Kapoor.

Amitabh Bachchan's next film 'Boodha' - Old age benefit!

Amitabh Bachchan's next film 'Boodha' - Old age benefit!: Whenever a role demands a change, Amitabh Bachchan doesn't hesitate a bit and here is the great actor all set to sport a very stylish look with coloured beard in his next film Boodha.

As the name suggests the movie is about an old man (boodha), who feels young as a 25-year-old. The film will be directed by the Telugu director Puri Jagannath. For the role Big B has happily agreed to dye his hair as well as bread in vibrant colours. While talking to a daily about Big B's looks, Puri says, "That's right. Bachchan Sir is going totally psychedelic for his part in Boodha."

The enthused Bachchan is also thinking of borrowing some fashion accessories from his son Abhishek Bachchan's wardrobe. However, what colour Amitabh will sport is yet to be decided, either it would be red or a mix of different colours. But it would be his wig rather than real hair that will have the psychedelic look.

To be a boy of 12 or young man of 25, Big B rocks at 68!
